ClockWatcher v1.0 (27-apr-95)
Freeware
By Henrik Münther
Purpose
-------
Have you ever noticed, that some programs(mostly demos and games) resets your
battery backed up clock when they crash? Anoying when you want to look at the
file dates?
Well, this is where ClockWatcher moves in. It can, of course, not restore the
correct time, but when it discover that the clock has been crashed, it ask
you to input the correct time.
Requirements:
------------
Should work on any Amiga with Kickstart 2.0 and above.
How it works:
------------
ClockWatcher will each time you reboot compare its own datestamp to the current
date. If the current date is older(or too much newer) than its datestamp it
asks you to input a new date.
Then it saves the current date as its datestamp, which means that ClockWatcher's
datestamp will allways have the date of the last time you have rebooted.
How to use:
----------
ClockWatcher should be executed in S:user-startup.
Template: ClockWatcher <N> [GUI]
Where N is the maximum number of days ahead, that ClockWatcher will not ask you
to input a new date. This should be set to the normal maximum number of days you
do not use your computer.
The GUI option gives you a Graphical User Interface(the standard preferences time
editor, so you need Sys:prefs/time) instead of the normal commandline interface.
NOTE! If you select the GUI option, and the clock has been crashed, ClockWatcher
automatically sets the time/date to the one at last reboot, before starting the
GUI. This makes the correction of the time/date(usually only the time then) much
easier.
Example:
-------
ClockWatcher 5
Means that ClockWatcher will ask you to input a new date if:
A) The current date is older than previous time you rebooted.
B) The current date is more than 5 days newer than previous time you rebooted.
